About LiveLocal
Cork's free real-time status dashboard
LiveLocal provides instant visibility into Cork's critical infrastructure, helping residents and visitors make informed decisions about travel, safety, and daily planning.
What We Monitor
LiveLocal aggregates real-time data from multiple official sources to give you a single view of what's happening in Cork right now. Our dashboard covers:
- Weather conditions including current temperature, forecasts, and Met Éireann warnings for Cork
- Jack Lynch Tunnel status with live closure information and scheduled maintenance
- Cross River Ferry operating status between Carrigaloe and Glenbrook
- Power outages from ESB Networks affecting the Cork area
- Cork Airport flight disruptions including delays and cancellations
- River Lee levels from OPW monitoring stations to track flood risk
- Traffic incidents reported across Cork city and county
Why We Built This
Cork residents know the frustration of discovering the tunnel is closed when you're already halfway there, or finding out the ferry isn't running after you've driven to Carrigaloe. Information exists, but it's scattered across multiple websites, apps, and social media accounts.
LiveLocal solves this by bringing everything into one place. Check before you leave home, and you'll know exactly what to expect. The dashboard refreshes automatically every two minutes, so you're always seeing the latest information.
Powered by Cork Safety Alerts
LiveLocal is a project from Cork Safety Alerts, the community-run service that has been keeping Cork informed since 2013. With over 289,000 followers across Facebook, Instagram, X, and our mobile app, Cork Safety Alerts is one of Ireland's largest local information services.
Cork Safety Alerts operates entirely through volunteer effort and community donations. We don't receive any government funding. This independence allows us to focus solely on what matters: keeping Cork safe and informed.
Data Sources
We believe in transparency about where our information comes from. LiveLocal pulls data from these official sources:
- Met Éireann & OpenMeteo for weather data and official warnings
- Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) for tunnel information
- ESB Networks for power outage data
- Cork Airport for flight information
- Office of Public Works (OPW) for river level monitoring
- Cross River Ferries / inCobh for ferry status
Data is refreshed automatically and displayed without editorialisation. If a source reports an issue, we show it. When the issue is resolved, it disappears from the dashboard.
